Welcome to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

A warm welcome to Year 3's class page! Our class teacher on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is Miss Daley and on a Thursday and Friday Mrs Pimperton. We will be supported by Mrs Sainsbury every morning and some afternoons. Please take a look at our 'Class News' page to see all the exciting things we have been up to!

 Reading
It's really important that children read at home to a parent or sibling 5 times a week for 10 minutes. Discussing the book with your child can help to develop their vocabulary and comprehension skills. Please remember to sign their reading diaries as only signed entries will be counted towards your child's weekly reads. If your child fails to complete the required amount of reading at home, they will have to do this during their lunch time.
Times Table Rock Stars
At Woodstone, we try to provide children with every opportunity to learn and grow. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun, engaging learning resource to help children develop their multiplication skills. Like reading, it is really important that children play TTRS at home. Playing this game will not only develop times table skills, but also help to boost children's confidence during maths lessons.
We ask that Year 3 children play for 15 minutes a week, games are a minute long so that means playing for 3 minutes a day after school. If the weekly sessions aren't completed, children will make up their practice during lunch time. This will be set on a Wednesday and need to be completed by the following Tuesday night.

P.E.
This half term, our P.E. lessons will be on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Please make sure your child has both their indoor and outdoor P.E. kit in school all week as timetables may change at short notice. Remember, earrings must be removed for P.E. lessons as staff are not allowed to remove them in school.

Homework
Homework is set every Friday and should be handed in on or before the following Thursday, ready for new homework to be handed out. Each week this will alternate between a maths or grammar focus.
