Welcome to Year 4

Welcome to the first term of Year 4!

Our teacher is Miss Williams and our teaching assistants are Mrs Moore and Mrs Sainsbury. Mrs Edwards will be helping us with our ICT lessons and Mr Trueman (from Leicestershire Music Services) will be teaching us singing and the ukulele in Music.

This half term we will develop and extend our learning through lots of exciting activities and topics, including: Ancient Greece in History, Electricity in Science, sketching in Art, cooking in D&T, and Rights, Rules and Responsibilities in PSHE.
PE will be football on Tuesday afternoons and fitness on Friday afternoons. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school all week so that we can adapt to the weather conditions. Remember that earrings and watches must be removed for P.E. lessons.
Music will be on Wednesday afternoons. The children will be able to bring their ukulele home so please encourage them to practise the skills they have learned during the lessons. Please ensure that they bring it back into school on Tuesdays so they always have it for the lesson.

Class Teacher

Homework will be set on Fridays and needs to be finished by Thursday morning, unless otherwise directed. This will include a piece of written maths (to support our learning in class) and 30 minutes of Times Tables Rock Stars. Spelling tasks, focused on the week's key words, and topic-based work will be sent home sometimes too.

We like the children to read to an adult at home for 15 minutes at least 3 times a week. Please remember to sign and date your child's reading diary so we have a record of their reading and any issues that they may need help with in school. It's also really beneficial for your children to hear you read to them so please try to include this in your weekly sessions.
